Marine Hybrid Solutions and WE Tech Solutions form strategic partnership to accelerate hybrid-electric vessel deliveries in Norway and the Nordics
Horten, May 2026 — Marine Hybrid Solutions (MHS) and WE Tech Solutions (WE Tech) have formalised a strategic partnership that brings together two highly complementary organisations in the fast-growing market for maritime electrification. Operational since August 2025, the partnership gives Norwegian and Nordic shipowners and yards access to a fully integrated supplier, covering power electronics, electrical systems, automation, energy management, and digital fleet services.
The partnership combines WE Tech’s proven WE Drive™ technology and advanced shaft generator systems, installed on nearly 300 vessels globally, enabling fuel-efficient, low-emission, and flexible power generation across diverse vessel operations, with MHS’s capability as primary contractor, solutions integrator, and delivery of the Miira Cloud and Miira Onboard platform. Together, the two companies offer a complete solution spanning the full delivery chain — from concept analysis and system design through commissioning, aftermarket support, and continuous performance monitoring via cloud and onboard. The partnership bridges the gap between advanced electrification technology and full-solution integration, reducing complexity for shipowners.
Børge Nogva, CEO of MHS:
“The robust and proven deliveries of WE Tech, combined with MHS’s primary contractor responsibility and technological development, supporting ship-owners in their operations after delivery, create synergies our customers will benefit from, from the first analysis through to vessel operations. This partnership marks the beginning of something that will shape Norwegian and Nordic maritime electrification for years to come.”
Petter Bodman, General Manager of WE Tech Solutions AS
“This partnership brings together proven technology and strong system integration capability to create real value for shipowners. By combining WE Tech’s advanced energy solutions with MHS’ integration expertise and digital platforms, we can deliver efficient, reliable, and future-ready hybrid systems that help customers meet evolving regulatory requirements while improving operational performance. The partnership model is designed to scale beyond the Nordic region, supporting global vessel electrification projects.”
The partnership has already produced tangible results, with ongoing deliveries demonstrating strong collaboration between the two companies. In summer 2026, MHS and WE Tech will complete a full hybrid-electric installation onboard MS Canoline for Salten Shipping, making a key milestone in delivering integrated, high-performance hybrid solutions to the Norwegian market.
Norwegian market and future growth
Norway is the natural starting point for the partnership, as regulatory pressure through the NOx fund scheme and the incoming Fjord Zero zero-emission requirements are driving electrification across a large and established coastal fleet. MHS brings primary contractor responsibility, solution integration capability, and existing relationships with shipowners, yards, and designers across the Norwegian market. WE Tech contributes deep technological expertise, advanced power electronics, and an extensive global track record with nearly 300 vessel installations worldwide. The combined offering allows the two companies to serve customers with a level of scope and depth that neither could provide alone, and to bring that capability to new markets beyond Norway as the partnership scales.
